The Giza pyramids
The 3 famous Giza pyramids are the last remaining wonder of the ancient world. They were around 2600 BC. Built on a large limestone plateau.
The Cheops pyramid is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids and is therefore also known as the “Great Pyramid”. It is the highest pyramid in the world, 147 m high and was built as a tomb for the Egyptian king Cheops .
First we will admire the largest pyramid in the world, the Great Pyramid of Cheops. This is followed by a tour of the Chephren pyramid and the Mykerinos pyramid .
Then we drive to a plateau, from there you have a wonderful panoramic view of the three pyramids of Giza.
The Sphinx
The Sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a man and lies in front of the Chephren pyramid with a length of approx. 73 m and a height of approx. 20 m.
After visiting the pyramids, fortify yourself with an oriental lunch. Then continue to:
Sakkara
Sakkara is one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Egypt. There you can see the first pyramid of Egypt, the step pyramid of King Djoser from the 3rd dynasty around 2650 BC. It consists of 6 steps with a height of 62 m. The first phase of pyramid building in Egypt began with this structure. However, it was not originally planned by Imhotep as a pyramid, but initially as a square mastaba. You can also visit the beautiful tombs from the old empire with their special paintings.
Memphis
Memphis is the ancient capital of Egypt. Here are the ruins of the Ptah Temple, the huge statue of King Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. Today’s name “Memphis” goes back to the ancient Egyptian word “Men-nefer” and means something like permanent and perfect.
