 Day 1 Arrival & Check-in

For your 8-days Nile cruise with the MS Mayfair from Luxor, fly to Luxor today. Upon arrival at Luxor Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our tour guide and assisted with the entry visa. You will then be transferred to your 5 star Nile cruise boat. You embark, then you can enjoy your first evening under the starry sky of Luxor and look forward to the program of the next few days.

Note:

Day 2 Thebes East

After breakfast on board, you will visit the enormous temple in Luxor with your guide:

Karnak Temple:

No site in Egypt is more impressive than Karnak Temple. Was built more than two thousand years ago, It is the largest temple complex ever built by man and represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders and Pharaohs. The Temple of Karnak is actually three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples situated on 247 acres of land.

Then visit another immortal building in Luxor:

Luxor Temple:

The Temple of Luxor was the center of the most important festival, the festival of Opet. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramses II, the temple’s purpose was as a setting for the rituals of the festival. The festival was to reconcile the human aspect of the ruler with the divine office.

You will then be returned to the cruise boat. After lunch on board, the boat sail to Edfu.

(In the afternoon there is no program, just enjoy the boat trip from Luxor to Edfu. You have enough time to relax on the sundeck. Find your favorite place on the boat and let the typical Egyptian Nile landscape take effect)

Tip of the day: 

Today you have the opportunity to enjoy the unique view of the ancient treasures of Luxor on a hot air balloon flight at sunrise over Thebes West. (Optional)


Day 3 Edfu / Kom Ombo

Today you will have an extensive breakfast on board, then you will first visit one of the best preserved temples in Egypt:

Edfu Temple:

Dedicated to God Horus, Edfu temple considers the most preserved Greco-Roman temple all over Egypt and on its walls portrayed a “Play” shows the overcome of Horus over the devil god Seth.

After the Edfu temple your dream journey continues and the cruise boat sail to Kom Ombo. In afternoon you visit the temple which is located directly on the banks of the Nile:

Kom Ombo Temple:

A temple overlooking the Nile, This temple divided into two temples of two gods Sobek & Haeroris with two entrances and two hypo style Halls, and two sanctuaries.

Then continue sailing to Aswan.


Day 4 Aswan program

After breakfast on board, enjoying the beauty atmosphere of Aswan with its green islands and red granite cliffs, take a trip around the city. a boat trip to the Nile island of Agilika will be a wonderful start in Aswan. The last great sanctuary of the ancient Egyptian religion, the magical, awaits you there:

Philae Temple:

The temple dedicated to goddess Isis of Love and beauty. The temple complex was dismantled and relocated to nearby Agilkia Island as part of the UNESCO Nubia Campaign project, protecting this and other complexes before the 1970 completion of the Aswan High Dam.

The High Dam:

It was built across the Nile at Aswan and was constructed between 1960 and 1970, and has had a significant effect on the economy and culture of Egypt.

Tip of the day: 

This afternoon you have the opportunity to visit the beautiful botanical garden on Kitchener Island and a Nubian village on an excursion and to get to know the hospitality of the locals. (Optional)


Day 5 Optional Excursion to Abu Simble

The two Temples of Abu Simble are the great sun temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari, which was built by Ramses II to his favorite wife Queen Nefertari among other 200 wives and concubines, built during the reign of King Ramses II 1200 B.C. With their unique style, are considered to be the masterpieces of ancient Egypt.

The Temples are rock-cut structures, and both temples were discovered in 1813 it was almost completely covered with sand, Then both temples were moved in 1960 by the help of Egyptian government and UNESCO to avoid the rising water of the Nile.

Ramses II built the temple mostly to honor himself as inside there is a mural depicting his famous victory at Kadesh battle where his army defeated his enemies.

The carvings and artwork that decorate both temples are incredible. Hand carved pillars, wall paintings, carvings, statues, and much more, this is a must visit the place.


Day 6 Return from Aswan to Luxor

The cruise boat sails at morning back to Luxor. Today you have all day on board at leisure.

Relax on the sundeck and review what you have experienced while the wonderful Nile landscape glides past you. There is a lot to see on the banks of the Nile: fishermen use sticks to knock their prey into their nets, farmers drive water buffaloes to the shore, women do laundry, and children wave.

Enjoy the return trip by boat from Aswan to Luxor and relax on board!


Day 7 Thebes West

After a leisurely breakfast on board, you will travel to Thebes-West with your guide.

The first highlight of the day awaits you:

Valley of the Kings:

The final resting place of Egypt’s rulers from the 18th to the 20th dynasty, it is home to tombs including the great pharaoh Ramses II and boy pharaoh Tutankhamen. The tombs were carved deep into the desert rock, richly decorated and filled with treasures for the afterlife of the pharaohs. Most of the decoration inside the tombs still well preserved.

We leave this unique valley and the magical atmosphere and go to another magical place:

Hatshepsut Temple:

It is one of the most beautiful & best preserved of all of the temples of Ancient Egypt. The temple was built on three levels with two wide ramps in a central position joining the levels together.

Then continue your magical tour to Egypt and visit:

Colossi of Memnon:

Two massive stone statues of king Amenhotep III are the only remains of a complete mortuary temple. The statues are made from blocks of quartzite sandstone which exist in Cairo then moved 700 KM to Luxor.

After the detailed inspection you will be brought back to the cruise boat and the rest of the day is at your leisure. In Luxor you can stroll along the Nile street or explore the old town. Just enjoy your last day in Luxor.

Day 8 Disembarkation / Return Flight

Today it’s time to say goodbye to Luxor and the immortal Nile. After breakfast on board, you will leave the cruise boat for transfer to Luxor Airport. Then fly back home via Cairo.
